Re: RTX Super cards.

I think, if the 2060 super nets 1.2-1.25M PPD or less, the 2070s might actually be the most interesting card on the market, and even surpasses the old 2060 and the 2080 Super for long term folding. The 2080 Super is just too expensive now, and in the future to get the initial investment back in elec...

Re: RTX Super cards.

The 2080 Super has a fully enabled TU104 chip. :) They're currently going on a premium price. Super cards shortage is the reason why sellers want to sell them at premium prices. $50-150 above the introduction price. We should see prices fall in a month to a month and a half. In that time, I hope so...

Re: Folding at home with mint 19.1 and amd gpus

I'd be mainly interested in a Ubuntu/Debian file list,
A list of to be edited files, like which file to edit when adding or removing GPU slots, edit the file that enables GPUs, sets folding priority, and edit the file that sets up user name, team and key.

Re: RTX Super cards.

RTX 2080 Super is next but only 10% faster. Doesn't get as many extra CUDA or RT cores, as the 2070 or the 2060. The 2060 super seems to have the biggest performance jump. The 2070 Super folds nearly identical to the old 2080. With the more optimistic than expected results, The 2060 Super costs 14%...

Re: Folding at home with mint 19.1 and amd gpus

Mint is a derivative of Ubuntu, so FAH apps should work on it headless (no FAHControl). FAHControl for Linux, only works on 18.04 (ever since 18.10 is discontinued), and 16.04.6 LTS still should work for 1 more year. For Ubuntu/Mint 19, 1- There's no FAHControl, meaning no visual program aside from ...

Re: Questions about finished WUs:

Interesting! While I'm not a scientist, and not really interested in studying the diseases themselves, I do feel it's important for people folding to have some sort of tangible feedback from FAH. I'm mainly thinking about questions my family asks "what is it you're doing? Why are you 'wasting' your ...

Re: Questions about finished WUs:

Perhaps. To us, Folding at Home is an umbrella.
But I doubt the misunderstanding matters to the questions I asked.

That there will be more feedback is definitely something I'd think more folders would like to see.

Questions about finished WUs:

We fold for a company. We spend money, time, hardware on this company. Every day we download and upload a few megabytes in WUs to and back from a server. And we don't know what happens after the WUs are sent back. Only occasionally does the FAH website get updated with news, that's pretty vague abou...

Re: Scheduling folding in Windows

If the software can set the state of WUs to 'finishing', it'd be the best option. But if it just turns off the PC, it's no different than methods below (without installing software): If you don't want to bother with software, here are some alternatives: Just force your PC to go into, and come out of...

It's perhaps better to run a max of 6 GPUs per motherboard.
Most motherboards offer 3 full size slots running at either 16, 8, or 4x speeds.
And 3 PCIE 1x slots.

That way, you can run at least 3 cards at faster than 1x speeds; and run them more efficiently.

Re: Please could you whitelist the RTX 2070 Super?

When gamer sites post gaming improvements of 10-16%, I guess the remaining 10-15% we can attribute to the return bonus? Most points are made from the Quick return bonus anyway; it doesn't accurately represents the amount of work load done. With RTX cards, I presume in the near future, they can lower...

The +12V is.
The ground wires aren't.
There's a possibility that some 8x connectors also can run at 75W, but the majority of them operate at 35W.
The card gets it's power from the top connectors.

Re: Please could you whitelist the RTX 2070 Super?

Seems like the higher core count helps folding more than gaming.
Average % increase of 2070 to 2070 super was 16%.
At 1,4M PPD, the 2070 Super folds about 25% faster.

I'm eager to know how the 2060 Super will do.

Re: FAHControl/Web Client not connecting to FAHClient

I think bollix47 has given some good advice! Advice I would have given too! It's standard procedure. I have never seen Geforce Experience solve issues with folding, or even driver installs. Geforce Experience is just an experience around the Geforce drivers, and have really very little to do with t...

Re: Please could you whitelist the RTX 2070 Super?

I wonder why the GPU says '1EC7', instead of 'TU104'?
I wonder if the first is an engineering sample, or press release sample of sort?
