Re: What is the ratio of current capacity to waiting work un
Good question. I don't know any way to estimate those numbers nor do I know where to find hard data. With the disruption caused by the transitions occurring to FAH's infrastructure I do know that the "pad" of WUs waiting to be assigned is lower than I'd like to see it but it's a lot more complicated...

Re: stats not updating
Some others reported problems with ServerStatus and other apps in the early hours of today (PDT) which was corrected a few hours later. Maybe there was a problem with the cloud service. (Are stats processed on the cloud or are they still at Stanford?)

Re: Notes on FLOPS calculations
FAH is undergoing some major updates in the infrastructure and global throughput is certainly below expectations. I expect these updates will be completed in the next month or two (since every server needs to be rebuilt). Let's review this question in Sept or Oct when things stabilize.

AMD has a history of releasing a whole host of patches all at once. Do you suppose that will happen again?

Re: Zen based Athlons
The 240GE is designed for a laptop. As a general rule, the performance of chips of that nature are really intentionally performance-limited so they don't deplete the battery rapidly as opposed to producing floating point performance. You won't be happy with this chip. The GPU has only 192 shaders th...

Re: Zen based Athlons
A large percentage of the time spent doing FAH calculations is spent doing Single Precision floating point arithmetic. Of course there always is a mixture of other types of operations but since the're less frequent, their speed doesn't matter as much. FAH software is also designed to make use of ins...

Re: [Solved]Re: Shows ready.. running.. returns to ready.
BTW my logs are located in /opt/fah/ This may be an indication of your problem. The installer chooses a directory to place those files and inserts a "CWD: /var/lib/fahclient" command into the startup script of the FAHClient service, into the startup script of FAHControl, and into the startup script...

Re: Need a help
I don't know a way to answer that question. Before FAH was started, calculating the motions of N protein atoms for K nanoseconds could be estimated as proportional to K and to N**2. The numbers were so daunting that the concept was considered impossible. Then FAH's research team cam up with more and...

Re: F@H Web Control Client Freaking Out
The log you posted looks normal ... The FAHClient service is running and it's folding. As you suggest WebControl is not connecting to the client correctly. Do you have an active firewall program? It works for me, but we don't have enough information to figure out (yet) why yours isn't working. Have ...

Re: Deep Learning AI and Protein Folding
When you look at the advertising that FAH puts out, it emphases the possibility of developing science that leads to curing specific diseases, which is directly related to what rafel is calling "function" FAH can, in fact evaluate function by brute force -- and that's the way FAH started out -- but i...

Re: Radeon 5700 XT usupported due to driver issues [19.7.2]
The GPU cores are being compiled with what they're calling MIXED PRECISION. This means that a major portion of the calculations are performed in single-precision, but a small fraction of them will be done in double precision when that's important to the success of the WU. In traditional FAH calculat...

Re: Please add Radeon Pro WX Vega M GL
FAH has had difficulties when there's a discrete GPU in the same system as a (Intel) iGPU. Generally, the BIOS has disabled the iBPU so the problem goes away. Obviously that's not the case here. In situations like that, it has often been necessary to REMOVE the Intel drivers and install just the dri...

Re: Radeon 5700 XT usupported due to driver issues [19.7.2]
BTW, there are virtually no new projects who do not require double precision, so validating that FAHBench runs in single isn't as useful as it used to be. That also means that OpenCL 1.1 installations need to be upgraded to 1.2
