Issue with WU speed

Post by lelliott731 » Sat Aug 29, 2009 3:54 pm

Hello,

Has anyone else noticed that running a Linux VM on Mac OS X gets you more PPD then running the client natively inside Mac OS X? I am running the latest Snow Leopard 10.6 release, but this also occurred with Leopard 10.5.8 and other 10.5.x versions of Leopard. When I run Ubuntu Linux, versions 8.04, 8.10, 9.04 and Alpha's of 9.10, I get anywhere from 300-400 more PPD inside the VM then I do on the base system with nothing else running.

Why on earth would that be the case? Anyone else have the opposite experience?

Thanks for your help!

Dual or quad core CPU ?

On a qued core, you should see pretty poor performance with Ubuntu 8.10 compared to the others.

I just got a new 15" MacBook Pro with 3.06GHz CPU Core 2 Duo, 4GB of RAM, 128GB SSD. Yeah, 8.10 sucked compared to 8.04, 9.04 & 9.10 Alpha 4, but still, I don't understand why running in a VM, I'd get better speed. It doesn't make sense to me.
