Error: Could not write local file. Exiting

Post by flumignan » Thu Oct 23, 2008 3:42 am

I'm getting a persistent error with the 6.23 Beta R1 on my Mac Pro 10.5.5 8-core. Since downloading the beta, I completed one work unit under the username flumignan; the subsequent WU failed with the following log entry:

I'm new to Folding, but not new to Macs. What are the proper steps toward determining the problem and finding resolution?

Looking at ~/Library/Folding@Home there was a file named %90`%88%95 that I deleted and restarted the FAH launchd item. In my syslog, I got this:

This showed that FahCore_a1.exe crashed. I'm providing this info for the beta developers, should this assist.

Your logs looks strange and not very user friendly.

What about using your FAHlog.txt file instead ?

BTW, I don't know what's wrong with your machine, I don't know Macs :(

Hello flumignan,

First off, welcome to the forum and to Folding.

The log you posted has most of what is in the FAHlog.txt, but the FAHlog.txt is what we typically look at to diagnose errors... it's a bit more human-friendly.
The error that caused your failure, " CoreStatus = 75 (117)" is somewhat unusual and the developers may well want to follow up on it. However, your stats indicate that it hasn't persisted into your next units and that you are now folding along just fine. Nice contribution to the project!
